hi, im a finalist for the posse foundation finalist intervie.
this is realy important.
what is the third interview like??
i really need the scholarship guys..
plz be serious with this answer.
thanks…
let me know what to expect!
and just additional tips.
Sadly I don’t think there are many people who know what this interview entails, including myself. You could try looking it up on google, but don’t be surprised if you don’t get anything.
If you can’t find anything, look up interview questions that pertain to college interviews, scholarship interviews, etc. Job interviews might not be the best, but you can chose some of the broad ones and apply it to your situation. For example, instead of “Why should we hire you,” just develop an answer for “Why should we pick you?”
The key to doing well for the interview is practice. Find questions, articulate answers, have your parents come up with interviews (and do them in front of them!), answer specific questions, broad questions, and even silly questions. I’d also recommend you generate or find questions that might be very likely asked, so have answers ready for them. You don’t want to sound like a robot regurgitating answers, but you want to be prepared.
Other than that google and/or ask people such as teachers, parents, other professionals for tips as to how to do well. Basically it will refer to public speaking, but I’m sure you’ll find a lot of help specifically pertaining to interviews themselves. Furthermore I’d also suggest researching the actual foundation. Find its motto, read up on it, and try to formulate ideas/ways that you directly align with its principles/what it does for others.
You can do very well, just practice as much as possible (even if it’s as little as 15-30 minutes a night). Then do all the right stuff the night and day before the interview, such as getting plenty of sleep, eating a sound breakfast, dressing appropriately (formal I’d assume), and checking off a list of things you’ve generated that you want to make sure you have/do. My last piece of advice would be- don’t afraid to come up with a few questions that you want to ask the person interviewing you as well. Don’t make them like “How much money will I get?” but try to create some questions that will show your interest and that aren’t necessarily answered by their website. You want to come off as sociable, well prepared, and interested, and this is one way you can do this as surely the interviewer will ask you “do you have any questions for me or about the scholarship?/”
GOOD LUCK! There is a reason why you made it to be a finalist, so now go and finish the job and become a winner =D
So,
I have been selected as a finalist for the Posse Scholarship and they want me to commit by next tuseday. They are saying that if i commit and i am selected then i will have to go to Bucknell U. and they will cover tuition.
However my problem comes in that my dad thinks that University Maryland of College Park is a much better school and if i end up going to Bucknell i would be loosing out a lot?
What do you guys think?
Should i commit?
Bucknell is my top choice and it is a much better school. I probably won’t be attending though due to financial issues. I know a ton of idiots that go to College Park. I train there for tennis and play tournaments there. Their campus is disgusting, especially in contrast to Bucknell’s gorgeous campus.
Place the name of each school individually into your favorite search engine and add the phrase rankings and reviews. Then do a compare and contrast.
If there is time the best approach is to visit each school and to speak to faculty, students and admissions .
